The magpie is well known as the thief of the bird family, delighting in stealing objects that glitter. It is said that if you can find a magpie’s nest, it will be full of tiny treasures. The results of testing this theory are often underwhelming. A member of the corvid family, the magpie pretends to have no affiliation with the more sinister members of the genus. The magpie’s feathers are much prized by fletchers due to their sleek and elegant design.
